Possibly the most breathable waterproof insulated mountain jacket available, the Montane Axion Neo Alpha Jacket uses a combination of advanced, hyper breathable materials to excel in extreme winter conditions. Designed for active use in extremely cold conditions, the Axion Neo Alpha is ideally suited for winter alpine mountaineering, ski-mountaineering and ski-touring.
It is no small surprise that Montane have used Polartec's Neoshell fabric when designing a hyper breathable jacket. The Neoshell membrane uses a constant two-way exchange of air to pull moisture vapour out and, unlike other leading waterproofing brands, can work at extremely low levels of pressure. Developed for breathability in all conditions, Polartec Neoshell is 100% more breathable in active use than the best waterproof/breathable shells on the market. The hyper breathable Neoshell will enable peak performance in all conditions, keeping you drier during high exertion activities.
But what good is a super breathable membrane if the moisture can't get through the jackets insulation; the solution can once more be found with Polartec. Designed in conjunction with the U.S. Special Forces, Polartec Alpha is best described as active insulation, working effectively during both resting and dynamic periods. Based on Polartec's Thermal Pro High Loft, Alpha is quick drying, great at retaining warmth and circulates air to provide exceptional breathability. Most other synthetic insulation technology on the market is not capable of efficiently handling the moisture produced during high levels of activity, Polartec Alpha is.
On top of all of the techy materials is the inspired design and well placed features we have all come to expect from Montane. The High Mountain fit has slightly larger chest and bicep measurements with an athletic fit to the body, allowing for extra winter layering. It is also technically tailored to prevent hem lift when reaching above your head. The fit is completely adjustable thanks to the lower adjustable hem with low-profile penny cordlocks and the fully adjustable helmet-compatible mountain hood, which has a 3-point adjustment system or, alternatively, can just be rolled and stowed away when not in use.
In extreme cold, discomfort can go from an inconvenience to a problem very easily. That is why Montane have added features such as the zoned areas of PEAQ Hyper and Synthetic, to wick sweat away and provide next to skin comfort, and brushed fine microfleece on the inner collar with a roll over beard guard. With an adjustable, removable snowskirt and a host of well placed pockets, it all makes for an extremely breathable, high performance mountain jacket that won't let you down.
